See those hundreds of (well, almost one hundred) yarn ends. It took some hours of my life to finish off the crochet retro scarf that I started a couple of weeks ago. I have made a resolution that there aren't going to be any UFOs - this year, ever - so I just had to sit it through!
It seems like everyone is naming their knits these days, so I started thinking of a good name. First to come to my mind was an old Finnish word Pylpyrä. Now forgive me, but I really don't know what it means, it just sounds to me like the large hairpin lace circles might be called that. If I was allowed to invent meanings to words, that's what I would call them: pylpyrä.

    592725.jpg Is this a pylpyrä?

But then I fast forwarded from the ancient times into 20th century and stopped about in the 60's. There was a popular children's tune of Auntie Monika who went to the market and who had a bag, a scarf, a hat which swayed this way and that (and you were supposed to act it out and sway along). So, maybe Monika is a better name for a retro inspired scarf? What do you think?
I combined hairpin lace with regular crochet, bamboo yarn and silk-wool. I already had the chance to wear it out and found that despite the holes, it keeps you nice and warm in spring-time.
